In 2026, the United States is celebrating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This nationwide celebration invites communities like Dayton, Ohio to reflect on our shared past, uplift the stories that helped shape our country, and create a collective vision for the next 250 years.
Dayton and Montgomery County are proud to partner with the State of Ohio for America 250 efforts across our region. Throughout the year, our communities will come together to honor our nation's past, present, and future through events that are engaging and memorable for all ages.

1. 2026 CenterPoint Energy Dayton Air Show – Presented by Kroger
The CenterPoint Energy Air Show is doing a special celebration to honor America 250 this year, as well as the 80th anniversary of the U.S. Navy Blue Angels! Join spectators in witnessing the spectacular display of military and civilian aviation. The event features various ground activities, including static displays of aircraft, food vendors, and family-friendly entertainment. This year's performers include the USAF F-15 Eagles, F-16 Fighting Falcons, the Golden Knights, and more!
Reserved seating is limited and typically sells out well in advance of the event.

2. Centerville-Washington Township Americana Festival

Do you have Fourth of July plans yet? Come celebrate America's birthday at Ohio's largest July 4th festival: The Centerville & Washington Township Americana Festival!
Beginning July 3rd, this weekend celebration consists of a parade, fireworks show, street fair, auto show, 5k run/walk, and more! The Americana Festival remains a cherished celebration where the small-town American spirit still shines. From Uptown Centerville's historic charm to the artisan booths and handcrafted goods, this tradition honors our past while bringing us together in the present.
3. City of Dayton's Lights in Flight Firework Show

Friday, July 3, 2026, will be the City of Dayton's Lights in Flight Fireworks Show!
The general viewing area at Kettering Field Sports Complex opens at 6 p.m., with the fireworks display beginning at 10 p.m. The official viewing area is Kettering Field (444 N. Bend Blvd) along the scenic Miami River, with first come first serve seating.
The festival begins at 5 p.m. with activities including a kids area with games, musical performances, food trucks, vendors, and more. Admission is free.
4. "FIFI" & Friends Fly-In at the National Museum of the US Air Force
Want to see rare World War II aircraft in person? The Commemorative Air Force (CAF) B-29/B-24 Squadron returns to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force this summer.
Scheduled to appear are the B-29 Superfortress "FIFI", the B-24 Liberator "Diamond Lil", and the AT-6 Texan and PT-13 Stearman.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see these rare flying warbirds up close on the Museum's flightline at the end of Memorial Park. Public viewing is planned daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aircraft are expected to arrive the morning of July 6 and depart late on July 8.

America 250-Ohio highlights unique places to explore in "Ohio Trails & Tales".
Home to the birthplace of aviation, participants are encouraged to explore Ohio's rich aviation and aerospace history along the Ohio Air & Space Trail. Explore different sites that motivate and inspire along the Creativity Trail. Discover where the brilliant minds of our past reshaped our infrastructure and powered our day-to-day lives along the Innovation Trail. Experience how Ohio's waterways built the backbone of America and fueled industry and growth on the Lake Erie to Ohio River Trail.
