Aullwood Audubon Center & Farm

Aullwood is open to the public through the farm entrance at 9101 Frederick Pike and at The Marie S. Aull Education Center at 1000 Aullwood Road. All trails are accessible from both the farm and the center.

Meet Aullwood's animal ambassadors at the Nature Center, and explore Aullwood’s Nature Store and Gift Shop to find delightful gifts, games, puzzles and more! You can fill your basket with Aullwood’s pork products, chicken, all-natural eggs as well as whole milk, chocolate milk and cheese from Fresh Start Dairy. All food items will be for sale only at Aullwood’s Nature Store and Gift Shop located at 1000 Aullwood Road. Make purchases with credit card, check or cash.

Meet the Aullwood Trolls

Come to Aullwood Audubon to see Bo, Bodil and Bibbi, three giant wooden trolls built by internationally acclaimed artist Thomas Dambo.  

"The Troll That Hatched an Egg" is a story about a family of trolls—Bo, Bodil, and Bibbi—who are part of a large art installation by Danish artist Thomas Dambo at Aullwood Audubon in Dayton, Ohio. As part of the story, a Northern Cardinal befriends the troll family and tells them stories that spark their imagination. The curious daughter troll, Bibbi, sees a metal airplane and believes it's a giant bird that has dropped metallic "eggs". Convinced the eggs are real, she and her parents build a nest to hatch them, and she eventually tries to fly to find the "metal bird," inspired by the story and Dayton's aviation history. “The Troll That Hatched an Egg” includes trolls #83. #84, and #85 of Dambo-created trolls in the United States and Puerto Rico. The trolls are constructed from locally sourced, recycled materials such as old pallet wood, sticks, and logs. 

Access to the trolls is included in Aullwood general admission.

Pastures, prairies, barns and farm animals are just some of the natural wonders found at this 200-acre nature sanctuary, which includes an Education Center, a 72-acre educational farm, eight miles of walking trails, animals, an herb and vegetable garden and the Charity A. Krueger Farm Discovery Center, which offers adventures and engaging activities.

Aullwood Farm

Aullwood’s farm works in concert with a variety of conservation principles both for the protection of the environment, the creation of bird-friendly habitat, and the preservation of rare and endangered farm animals.
